Haters gonna H8

I finally got round to watching The Hateful 8. Tarantino's ablity to play off tension, violence, and comedy is unparalleled and whilst not being his strongest work, its still a master-class.

Brutal yet bloody hilarious. There were some great performances throughout, and I couldn't resist drawing up a couple of my favourites.

I really hope he doesn't quit making films any time soon, as he's repeatedly threatens to.

Here's hoping that Kill Bill Vol. 3 will be prefixed with: The 5th Film by Quentin Tarantino, thereby squeezing one more drop of excellence from his promise.

Happy Birthday Roy!

Name: Roy Batty
Model: Nexus Six
Inception Deate: 08-01-16. Today.

I've enjoyed films for as long as I can remember, but Blade Runner was shown in my art class when I was about 15, just at the point I was realising that movies were grown up and smart, as well as simple entertainment.

With its flawless cinematography, visionary design and a rich, slow burning, noire story, its remained up there with my favourites ever since.

'I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire of the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the TanhaΓΌser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like... tears... in... rain.' - Roy Batty

Happy Birthday Roy!

Incidentally... Roy Batty? Sounds like an ageing newspaper seller from 'oop north'.

The Force Awakens Pt2 (spoiler free, I promise)

There was so much to love here, the humour, the characters and their relationships / interaction / dialogue, BB8, Solo and Chewie, the Falcon-ohmygod the falcon, a great villain... I could go on but I wont. I'll just leave this image here instead of my frothy rant.

Rey and some nods to her journey. I loved the planet Jakku and its history. Such a barren blistering hot mechanical graveyard.

I wanted to blow the lighting out more, but it would have strayed from the others too much. In the same respect I was close to making the previous image of Finn an almost black and white environment, closer to the movie palette but it wouldn't have sat as well with the other images. I digress.

Who next?

The Force Awakens Pt1 (spoiler free, I promise)

Star Wars: The force Awakens. It was magnificent. It wasn't flawless, but I had to scrabble about in the dark to find the flaws as they were lost amidst the fun, adventure, comedy and the visual spectacle. It was exactly what was needed form the new film. I loved it.

It has delivered some of my all time favourite characters to the Star Wars mythology so I'm going to add some of them to my ongoing destiny series.

First up, FN-2187, AKA, Finn.

The others in the series that includes Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Vader, Ventress and Fett are available as fully licenced prints from ACME Archives. Alternatively, you can purchase signed copies from my own store.

Right now I want to do another so I need an excuse to hit up a third viewing. \0/
