Gentle Giant

Peter Mayhew has passed away a few weeks shy of his 75th birthday.

Despite being covered from head to foot in order to portray a walking carpet, his shuffling gait delivered more character than many of the million dollar digital creations of modern sci-fi movies.

He helped bring the Fuzzball, The Beast, The Mighty Chewbacca, to life.

I thought it was about time Chewbacca got his medal.

Hopefully Chewie will go on being a staple of Star Wars movies for decades to come (unless Abrams does the unthinkable (though without Han there, there wouldn't be the required emotional payoff)).

Chewie his up there with Fett as my favourite Star Wars character so I was hugely excited to see him return for the trailer for The Force Awakens.

I really hope we get to see him tearing up the place and going 'full Wookiee' on some hapless troopers.

In the words of the Mighty Chewbacca himself, 'Wrraaaaaaghhhhhl'.

Sith are red and Wookies are... blue?

So in order to placate your frothing desire to learn about the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode VII (no?... Just me then?) here's some previews of the next characters to get the 'Destiny' treatment, Little Vader and Little Chewy. Both will be receiving limited print runs, fully certified by Lucasfilm, in the near future.

While the first three Destiny images were conceived to work as a set, these two have been designed as companion pieces to Luke and Han respectively, with Anakin/Vader running to collide with Luke against a foreboding red sunset and Chewie, like Han, is distracted by a glimpse of his destiny.

ADVERTISEMENT... well... promotion. Of sorts.
